PRESENTATION TO
DR. KELLY,
A Eulogistic Address.
Yesterday afternoon, the Board of Directors of the Tung Wal Hospital, presented Dr. Kelly, who is shortly to leave the Colony to take up an appointment at the Medical College, Colombo, with a silver tea service in recognition of his service at the aforemen- tioned institution. Some fifty persons were present, including Mrs. Kelly, and the whole of the directors.
Mr. Chan Kai-ming (Chair- man) making the prosentation said:-
Dr. Kelly,--I am requested by the directors of this liospital to perform this very pleasing duty of presenting you, on the occa- sion of your departure from this Colony through promotion in Ceylon, with this silver tea set. It has no intrinsic value, but the lirectors of the hospital could not allow you to depart from this Colony without showing in somə tangible form the high esteem and regard they held for you through the good work you have done during the period you have been connected with this hospital. And, sir, Tung Wah, with three successive Boards of Directors, of which I am the Chairman for this year, can testify consciously to your untiring efforts to assist in furthering the usefulness of this hospital. It is due to your sug- gestion and advice that the beeu Operating Theatre has brought up to its present high standard of efficiency. We are sorry to lose you, and we hope that your future carcer will be crowned with great success. We aow beg of you to accept this small present from us as a souvenir of the happy moments you have spent with us. Ia bidding you and Mrs. Kelly "au bon voyage" we all wish that you will both en- joy the best of health in your new -phere of labour. (Cheers.)
Dr. Kelly's Reply.
Dr. Kelly in responding said that he was very grateful to the directors for their very kind appreciation of his services. It had always given him great pleasure to attend that hospital in his professional capacity, and he was really sorry he was leav- ing them. (Applause.)
The party afterwards sat down to tea, and a vory interesting little ceremony was brought to a close,
